We stumbled on Iron Widow in a Little Free Library but left it behind. What a fool! Months later, it appeared again We did not make the same mistake! We were SHRIEKING and GIGGLING through the entire book. Xhao is a delight in print and social media. Also - love triangle resolved with POLY! AND ROBOTS.

My favorite reading partner is my wife, though we don't often share the same genres. HOWEVER - she has a knack for sniffing out new authors we will both ADORE. Suri's Burning Kingdoms trilogy kept us both screaming. War girlfriends! Plant magic! OH MY GOD CAN THIS GUY JUST DIE ALREADY. AHHHHHHH they KISSED. Is there anything so satisfying?

AJ White was one of our FIRST ARCs EVER. What a beginning. Body Horror like no other, digging deep into the gory, unique terror of bodies seen as objects. Chained down since birth. And it is so, SO satisfying to watch Trans kids DETROY such systems with their bare hands (and eyes. And teeth. SO MANY TEETH)
White ranges through sub-genres, including Post-Apocalyptic, Supernatural, and Appalachian. Can't wait to see him tackle Medical Horror with his VERY FIRST Adult offering!

Caruso's got an incredible gift for building out worlds and magic systems. Think the Medici family crashed into Howl's Moving Castle. There are reluctant heroes. Queer characters EVERYWHERE. Magic overlords who are SO DAMN TERRIFYING and incredible.
Two complete trilogies, and her new series JUST got the second book!

Ahhhhh Alexis Henderson. Combining Black Horror with Historical Fantasy, this author bites hard. These books are lush and wasting. Witches watch from the woods. Aristocrats glower from crumbling castles. This style probably falls under Gothic, come to think of it.
Tear the castles down.
